Alejandro Alvarez Acuña

Alejandro is deeply committed to advancing civic engagement and intercultural understanding, drawing on his experiences in Latin America and beyond. He has worked Amnesty International at Tufts to elevate human rights advocacy on campus, and with Teach-in-CORES to teach English as a Second Language to Central American immigrants in the Somerville community, and currently serves as the president of the Latin American Committee at Tufts.

Alejandro is originally from Costa Rica and Colombia and currently studies International Relations with a concentration in International Economics at Tufts University. He was awarded a scholarship to finish his high school studies at United World Colleges Maastricht in the Netherlands. He is working with Enroot as part of the Tisch Scholars leadership development program at Tufts’ Tisch College of Civic Life. In his free time, Alejandro enjoys traveling and sharing music, food, and culture with friends.
