Dear Enroot Community,

What a year it has been! Navigating uncertainties and pivoting to best serve immigrant students! 2021 has been a year of transition for many of us, and Enroot is no different. As we embrace the transitions of leadership and programmatic activities, it also means exciting opportunities and growth on many fronts. One thing that has stayed constant is our core value of ‘Students First’ and the generous support from individuals like you making our work possible.

Your financial gift during this end of year giving season makes it possible for Enroot to support Dachenie and students just like her, immigrant youth with big dreams and capable of endless possibilities.

As we continue to operate through the ongoing pandemic, we are delivering programming in a hybrid model and remain committed to providing students with quality supports. We extended our College Success Program to support third-year college students based on student requests, and are conducting more research in non-traditional alternative post-high school pathways with changing national trends and shifts in student needs.

Dachenie’s journey reflects my own. I am a Haitian immigrant who recalls what it was like to grow up in the United States without the benefit of programs like those offered by Enroot. My days were spent attempting to better understand the English language, my teacher’s expectations and the social norms of an American school, all on my own. Evenings were dedicated to schoolwork and translating immigration documents for my family. Having to navigate a new country as a young person with responsibilities of an adult felt isolating at times. As an immigrant, I remember feeling that I only saw half of the world of opportunities that my American counterparts saw.

At Enroot we boldly show students, “you are not alone”. Enroot is a true partner to students, aiding in opening doors, in showing students that they are celebrated and that there are countless individuals rooting for their success.

I ask that you choose to be one of these individuals. Your gift will allow us to show students that they are not alone, and that their futures are as bright as the sun. Now more than ever we need your support so that we can remain strong during our transitions and empower Enroot students to make their dreams a reality.

Your gift will:

  • Help us respond to immigrant students’ evolving needs and fight for educational equity for those disenfranchised in our communities.

  • Enable us to provide 1:1 mentoring, tutoring, leadership development, post-secondary access, professional internships, and college success coaching to immigrant students.

  • Ensure that Enroot is able to emerge from this period of transition in a position of strength as we continue to provide students even more 1:1 support.

Enroot has set an ambitious goal of raising $80,000 by the end of December. I hope you’ll consider continuing to support Enroot students by making a financial contribution as part of our Annual Giving Campaign. You may be able to double your donation by checking if your employer will match your gift!

This important work is only possible with your generous support. Please join us in achieving this goal!

THANK YOU - for being an Enroot supporter and for making an impact on the lives of immigrant students. We hope you continue to invite your friends and family to join our mission working shoulder to shoulder with students.
