Application Form

Eligibility: Any individual, family, or nonprofit organization (does not have to be from Cambridge).

Typical Amount Rewarded: $200 and $1,000. However, there’s a limited number of special grants of up to $10,000 that will be considered to nonprofit organizations.

Documents Required:

  • A short essay stating the grant need and impact
  • Proof of residency / employment in Cambridge 
  • Letter of validation from a local nonprofit, civic or faith-based leader, teacher, venue host, or employer. 
  • This fund is no longer accepting applications, but the Disaster Relief Fund will resume accepting applications mid summer. Sign up here for city updates on this fund.

    Application Form

    Eligibility: Anyone who resides in Cambridge, MA.

    How It Works: Submit a request and once someone can provide what you're asking for, they'll contact you.

    Somerville Funds

    Application Form

    Eligibility: Individuals living in Somerville, individuals who work in Somerville, and families with children receiving childcare services in Somerville or enrolled in Somerville Public Schools. Undocumented residents are eligible.

    Typical Amount Rewarded: A cap of $250 per person and $1000 per household.

    Documents Required:

    Applicants requesting rental or mortgage assistance must provide one of the following:

  • Copy of Lease or copy of a rental agreement
  • Copy of cancelled rent check with all bank account information crossed out or copy of money order receipt
  • Signed affidavit that includes signature from both the applicant and the leader holder
  • Mortgage statement and if applicable, copy of recent invoice or payment for condominium fee

    General Funds

    This docuemnt has additional resources for Massachusetts Workers to obtain funds.

    Application Form

    Eligibility: Massachusetts Residents, but MUST need to be a U.S citizen or a certain kind of legal noncitizen and meet income and asset limits that are provided on this page. Additionally, you will receive aid if you fall into one of these categories:

  • Unable to work due to your own disability that will last at least 60 days
  • Over 65 years old and awaiting for Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Living with and taking care of a child who is not closely related to you
  • Participating in a Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission Program
  • Required to stay home to take care of a disabled person
  • Typical Amount: $303 per month

    Application Form

    Eligibility: Tipped workers, service workers, restaurant workers, gig workers (including restaurant workers, delivery drivers, Uber/Lyft drivers).

    How It Works: Fill out the form and the team will contact the person who’s requesting assistance. The person requesting will receive a call from an organizer in 7-10 business days.

    Application Form

    Eligibility: Individuals who have either cancer, multiple sclerosis, or Rheumatoid Arthritis. They need to either be in active treatment, scheduled to begin treatment in 60 days, or have been treated in the last 6 months.

    Typical Amount: A one time $300 payment

    Documentation Required: Proof of legal status and medical diagnosis (Physician information, medical record of confirmed diagnosis of the illnesses above with date of diagnosis).

    Application Form

    Eligibility: Any unemployed Food & Beverage Hospitality Worker (defined as serving food and alcoholic beverages within a license restaurant or bar in the United States). Must be 21 and older.

    Typical Amount Rewarded: $50 per month in the form of an eVoucher. Can only apply once a month.

    Documented Required: A picture of your recent pay stub, or any document that has your name along with your workplace.

    Eligibility: To be determined from a phone call with the Asian Community Development Corporation. But they encourage you to call if you have tried applying for other benefits but have been ineligible. Primarily serves low-income immigrants.

    Documented Required: None, applications just need to call the hotline where they will ask some basic questions to determine eligibility.

    Eligibility: Any resident in Somerville, Medford, Everett, Malden or Cambridge REGARDLESS OF immigration status.

    Eligibility: Low income workers, especially those who are ineligible for social services

    Specific eligibility requirements:

    At least one adult member of the applicant's household must be documentably employed at the time of the application; AND the primary (largest) source of income for each applicant's household must be either income earned from employment; or child support payments; or Veteran's Benefits; or retirement income (including Social Security retirement benefits)

    Typical Amount Rewarded:Depends on application, average grant is between $750.00 and $1,250.00. Not cash grants so can’t cover expenses like groceries but can be for most bills or rent for example.

    Documents Required: Either your most recently filed tax return or the most recent bank statement you've received for all of the adults living in your household. Set aside 45 minutes to complete.

    Eligibility: Anyone living in Greater Boston looking for assistance because of school closings or lost wages.

    Typical Amount Rewarded: $500 maximum per address. They are splitting donations evenly, the first round was $150. Comes as a Visa gift card.

    Eligibility: Undocumented workers and families in Massachusetts.

    Typical Amount Rewarded: $300

    Documents Required: None. IMPORTANT note: Mass UndocuFund will call you from a BLOCKED number. If you receive a call from an “unknown number” , it is important that you pick it up as it could be from Mass UndocuFund.

    How It Works: Fill out the form and the team will contact the person who’s requesting assistance.

    How It Works: This fund is continuing to raise funds on a rolling basis. They will continue to offer grants as long as funds are available. Sign up to receive funds at the bottom of this page. Keep a lookout in your email for an invitation to submit the full grant application.

    Eligibility: Anyone not eligible to receive a CARES Recovery Rebate (coronavirus stimulus check) from the Federal government, who earned less than $99,000 or total household income below $198,000 in 2019, and who has experienced an income disruption due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
