Tamia will be serving at Somerville High School as a Program Associate through the AmeriCorps Massachusetts Promise Fellowship. In this role, she will be working with recruiting and matching volunteers to students, providing post-secondary informational training, and providing one-on-one support to the Somerville students.
Born in Trinidad & Tobago, she moved to the United States at a young age and lived in New York City for about a decade. Tamia graduated from Brandeis University in 2018 with a BS in Health: Science, Society & Policy. During her undergraduate career, she interned at organizations such as REACH Beyond Domestic Violence and New York City School Construction Authority where she worked with high school students in different capacities.
In her free time, Tamia is pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Leadership from Northeastern University. She also enjoys running outdoors, learning to cook meals from her country, and watching crime shows of all sorts.
