As an Americorps Ambassador of Mentoring, Sophia is serving as a Program Associate for both the Explore and Emerge cohorts. In this role, she will be recruiting and training mentors, leading weekly mentoring nights at Cambridge Rindge and Latin and Somerville High School, and providing ongoing support to students and mentors.

Born in Newton, MA, Sophia graduated from Tufts University in 2019 with degrees in International Relations and Economics. At Tufts, she was a Lead First Year Advisor and later the Manager of the University’s Spanish Language House, acting as an informal mentor and academic advisor to first years and international exchange students. Off campus, she interned at the Boston City Council and the Massachusetts Senate, and volunteered at Inquilinos Boricuas en Accion (IBA), a non-profit that runs a predominantly Puerto Rican affordable housing community in South Boston.

In her free time, she enjoys listening to news podcasts while cooking, playing ultimate frisbee, biking, swimming, hiking, and using Yelp to find the best hole-in-the wall places to eat.
