Alex Houston began her work at Enroot as a volunteer tutor before joining the team as a staff member. During Alex's three years at Enroot she has led the volunteer program for more than 150 volunteer mentors and tutors and played a key role in development, operations, and communications during Enroot's re-brand. She now serves as the Senior Manager of Development and Operations, working closely with the Director of Development and Strategic Initiatives and the Executive Director.
Alex joined Enroot after completing two years of National Service as an AmeriCorps Member and managing a farmers market. She supported families in the Cambridge-Somerville area as the Financial Stability Fellow at LIFT-Boston by providing assistance in applying to public benefits, including health insurance and food assistance. She spent the previous year working with 9th grade students as a City Year Boston Corps member.
Alex graduated from Reed College in Portland, OR with a degree in Psychology and is originally from Orlando, Florida. She enjoys spending time biking, reading, and crafting.
